5 pics around my place
Some recent pictures from where I live.
From my balcony, the morning sun reflecting in the Gherkin:

Lunch in Cafe1001. It was better than it looks on that picture!

Spitalfields Market seen from Bishops Gate:

Towards Spitalfields Christ Church:

Entrance to my road at night. Lots of signs and stuff:

Great London Pics
Another great series of London pictures from boston.com, by photographer Jason Hawkes.
On the second picture my temporary home (from December) is visible in the foreground!
OKOSHI
I ate an Okoshi the other day. Some Japanese sweet thing:

Here’s the view on Whitechapel Road towards Aldate, top floor of a bus:

Edit:
Actually, I completely forgot what I wanted to write about! On Tuesday I went to another poker club with some friends. It was a £10 buy-in tournament and about 80 people took part. It went very well for a friend of mine and me. We both ended up in the last 10 people (basically the final table). I came in 6th (but one before the money :-/) and kicked out a poker professional bounty guy! Was quite exciting.
T-Mobile Ad at Liverpool Street Station
This was filmed this Tuesday, 15 January at 11 in the morning. Massive flashmob at Liverpool Street Station. Best watched on youtube with higher quality.
Graubuenden on the Tube
I’m thinking of making a Tube category since I post so many underground related things. Anyway, I noticed Laax and Graubuenden Tourism is running ads on the tube! Here’s a picture. It says “SNOW?!” but the S and ? are only outlined.

Britain’s TV: Freaks and Fiction

In my new flat I’m exposed to British TV. I will briefly summarise my one week experience of it.
Of course there’s all kinds of shows like Friends and stuff .. but then the really interesting thing are the British (or American) documentaries.
This week I saw Britain’s Biggest Babies. Basically, it’s all about extremely big and fat babies getting fed by their extremely fat and ugly mothers. I can’t really decide which one was my favorite scene: when the mothers went to scan their huge bellies with ultrasonic or when the huge twin mutant had to get an emergency caesarian.
Now, seamless switch to Ice Road Truckers. It’s about professional extreme truck drivers, driving on the extremely dangerous roads of the Artic. Only few centimeters of thin, crackling ice separate the 50 ton truckload from the cold and certain death. The roads are very dangerous and the men pretty tough to say the least.
By the way, I typed this all up while listening to Coolio on Celebrity Big Brother schooling the other housemates on the difference between hoes, bitches, and regular women.
Can’t wait for tomorrow’s Half Ton Son. Looked disgusting.

2009!

Hey,
now is a good time to say thanks for reading my blog! (Almost) ever since its start it’s continuously (and magically) gaining readers and I appreciate that. This year I’ll try to blog a bit more regularly than last year. We’ll see if that’ll work out
Right now I’m still in Switzerland, though I fly back to London on Monday evening. To Gatwick unfortunately .. so I can’t make use of my new flat and walk home directly from Liverpoolstreet station!
